Getting involved in your neighborhood can be as simple as picking up trash around your house, or as involved as attending meetings and helping to plan the future of Woodberry. No matter how involved you become, you can be sure that your help, along with everyone else's in this neighborhood, will definitely help improve Woodberry.
Currently, there are many outside groups that are making proposals for developing and changing our neighborhood. Contact your neighborhood association representative to find out more about current issues facing Woodberry, like the Loyola stadium proposal that is just one part of the Jones Falls Master Plan proposal.

There are alternative proposals to the Jones Falls plan. Check out the Woodberry Planning committees' work or the Urban Forest initiative's master plan. If you are interested in signing a petition to support the Urban Forest Initiative's plan, contact them at 410-516-8853.

Woodberry Planning Meeting, June 26th, 6:30-8:30 pm at WJZ. This is of interest to everyone!

Loyola College has NOT bought the property to build their stadium on yet, but needs to submit a PUD (Planned Urban Development) to the City Council for approval. This is the LAST time that Loyola will present plans to the community before presenting to City Council. Speak now if you have anything to say about the matter! Check the Politics page if you want to tell your reps what you think before they vote on the issue.

What do YOU think?

Woodberry may be eligible for the Historical register. This listing would not restrict homeowners from doing what they want their property, but provides tax credit for remodeling costs done according to preservation standards.

The Street Tree program was a big hit, thanks to YOU!
Woodberry welcomes its bouncing baby trees! Many thanks to the great people at the City's department of Forestry for their hard work. There are still more trees to come!

If you missed the first round of trees, don't fret! We will be continuing this program and will be collecting more forms later this year for planting this fall. Click here to download a form if you missed the first round.

All meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at Alice Manor, 7-8:30 pm

Tips on making your tree the best one on your block
1- Give your baby a drink! Even though it has rained a bit, your baby tree is still thirsty when it doesn't rain! Newly planted trees need water in order to adapt to their new home and grow well.

2- Vines choke trees! Vines and ivy look nice growing up trees, but the truth is that these vines eventually will smother the tree. Its best not to plant ivy under trees. If you must have vines under your tree, make sure they don't grow up the tree!

So, do you want the Shuttle Bug coming through Woodberry?
Some residents in Woodberry think that the Hampden Shuttle bug should make a loop through Woodberry. They claim that this would help residents who cannot or will not walk to the shuttle, yet want to use the service. Is this a good idea, or is there already too much traffic in the area? This topic will be addressed at the July 10th meeting of Concerned Citizens of Woodberry.
Do you have any old photos of Woodberry? Let us know!

So, what do you think?

• If you think this is a great idea, e-mail us and let us know. MTA needs residents who want the shuttle to go through their neighborhood to sign a petition so they know that there is support for the idea.

• If you don't want the shuttle to come through our streets, e-mail us and let us know. Let us know why this is a bad idea!
